About Our Club
The
Oregon Society of Conchologists, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1965.
Monthly meetings are held at various locations in northwestern Oregon and
are open to anyone interested in studying and collecting seashells.
The purpose of the Society is to promote the study and advancement of the sciences of conchology and malacology, to give assistance and information to others interested in these subjects, and to promote and encourage the understanding of ecology and conservation.
The Oregon Society of Conchologists currently has about 70 members. These members range from beginners with a few inexpensive shells to knowledgeable collectors with very valuable collections. Shell collecting may be a lifelong professional interest or a happy diversion for one's spare time. In either case we feel that no other group of collectors in any field has any more fun or experiences more satisfaction than shell collectors.
The one thing that we all share, young and old, is an enthusiasm for shells. As a group we are responsible collectors devoted to increasing our knowledge while searching for perfection and diversification in shell specimens.
